Udaipur Airport Guide — Arrivals & Transfers

One terminal. Tiny. You will be out in 20 minutes.

Airport Basics

Maharana Pratap Airport. Also called Dabok. One terminal. Domestic only. 22 km from Old City, 45 min by cab. It's small. Like, really small. No international flights, no lounges worth mentioning, one overpriced cafe. Grab food in the city instead. Flights come in from Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata. That's about it.

Airlines & Routes

All domestic. No international flights operate from UDR. If you are coming from abroad, connect via Delhi or Mumbai.

Schedules change seasonally. Winter (Oct-Mar) has the most flights. Summer and monsoon see reduced frequency on some routes. Always check airline apps for current schedules.

Airport to City

Prepaid Taxi

₹400–60045 min

Counter is on your left after exit. Fixed rate, no haggling. AC sedan or SUV. Just go here first.

Uber / Ola

₹300–50045 min

Cheaper but flaky. Driver availability is hit-or-miss, especially early morning or late night. Have the app installed with an Indian number ready. If it works, great. If not, prepaid taxi.

Hotel Pickup

Free – ₹50045 min

Ask your hotel when booking. Most heritage properties do this free. Taj, Oberoi, Leela always send a car. One less thing to worry about.

Bus

₹301.5 hrs

Exists in theory. RSRTC bus to city stand. Unreliable schedule. Crowded. Slow. Honestly, no.

City to Airport

Leave 2 hours before your flight. Check-in is fast. The drive is not. 45 minutes plus Old City traffic buffer.

Book the night before. Ask your hotel to arrange a taxi (₹400-600). Uber works outbound but book 10 min early. Auto-rickshaws technically go to the airport. With luggage, don't.

Morning flights before 8 AM? Zero traffic. You'll sail through Sukhadia Circle and hit open highway. Afternoon? Expect congestion near the city. Budget accordingly.

January fog warning: December-January fog can delay morning flights by 2-4 hours. If you have a connecting flight from Delhi or Mumbai, never book a tight layover during these months. Afternoon flights are safer.

Check-in cutoff: 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights. The airport is small enough that even arriving 90 minutes early means you will be sitting around. Do not arrive more than 2 hours early — there is almost nothing to do inside.

Security and boarding: One security line, rarely more than 10 minutes. No separate priority lane. Boarding gates are immediately after security — the terminal is that small. Charge your devices and use the restroom before security.

Airport Facilities

  • One terminal. Domestic only. That’s it.
  • There’s a lounge. Priority Pass or business class gets you in. It’s fine.
  • Café inside but overpriced. Packaged snacks. Eat in the city.
  • ATM inside the terminal. Currency exchange? Barely. Sort that out in town.
  • Wi-Fi exists. Don’t count on it. Use mobile data.
  • Charging points? Almost none. Charge before you come.
  • No duty-free. No bookshop. No frills. It gets the job done.

Insider Tips

Luggage trolleys are free

Unusual for a small airport, but the trolleys at UDR are free. Grab one at the exit.

No left luggage facility

If you have a late flight and an early checkout, ask your hotel to hold bags. Most will do it free. The airport has no cloakroom.

Lounge access

There is a Plaza Premium-style lounge airside. Priority Pass and business class tickets get you in. Small but has AC, snacks, and coffee. Worth it if your flight is delayed.

SIM cards

Do not buy a SIM at the airport — markups are high and activation can take hours. Buy a Jio or Airtel SIM in the city instead (any mobile shop, ₹200-300, bring passport copies).

Currency exchange

Almost non-existent at UDR. Sort currency in the city. Thomas Cook and local exchange shops near City Palace offer better rates.

Terminal expansion

The airport has been undergoing expansion. The new terminal building is expected to increase capacity significantly. Check for updated terminal maps if travelling in late 2026.

Real Talk from a Lakeside Local

How far is the airport from Udaipur city?

22 km. 45 minutes in normal traffic. Road is single carriageway most of the way. Peak tourist season? The last stretch into Old City can tack on 10-15 extra minutes. Not a big deal.

Is Uber available at Udaipur airport?

Sometimes. Both Uber and Ola work here but drivers are unpredictable, especially late night or early morning. Prepaid taxi counter is always there, always fixed-price. Use that as your backup.

Are there direct international flights to Udaipur?

Nope. Domestic only. Fly into Delhi or Mumbai, connect to Udaipur (1.5 hrs from either). Some seasonal charters come from the Gulf but don’t plan around those.

What about fog delays in winter?

December and January morning flights are notorious for fog delays — 2 to 4 hours is common. If you have a connecting flight from Delhi or Mumbai, never book a tight layover during these months. Afternoon flights are much more reliable in winter.

Can I get food at the airport?

There is one café inside the terminal — overpriced and limited. Packaged snacks and bottled water are available. Eat a proper meal in the city before heading to the airport.

Is there Wi-Fi at the airport?

Technically yes. Practically, it is unreliable and slow. Use mobile data. If you need a SIM, buy one in the city — airport SIM counters charge more and activation can take hours.
